Alongside the massive Canada Day celebration, Medicine Hat’s Kinsmen Skate Plaza will be packed full of spectators and skateboarders from all over Canada for the Beat the Heat contest. This is one of the biggest amateur skate contests in the country with $20,000 in product and $6000 in cash with 100+ competitors every year. 

Categories include 12 & under | 13-16 |  bowl jam | product comp and cash comp.   For the first time ever, the top placing competitor wins a qualifying position at the 2019 Empire Open, formally Am Getting Paid, a world-class skateboard competition in Montreal  (flights/accommodation plus $1500 cash included) and a chance to win  $20,000 and enter a professional athletic career.

Also included this year will be the Medicine Hat Skateboard Association’s most extreme event to date.  A 20 foot tall gigantic wallride contest alongside an equally enormous speed ramp to launch skaters towards the wallride.  Food trucks will be on site and a music festival the night before.

Sanctioned by Canada Skateboard as a National Points earning event.  Beat The Heat competitors results will be included in the National Skateboard Ranking List.
