We've partnered with WYLDATA to bring you a new and improved Canada Skateboard National Ranking List. WYLDATA is a leader in action sports data collection and offers a fresh platform with a streamlined experience. The new Ranking List can be found on our website under the Team tab. Please note, at the time of writing this blog, the new format is still in beta and we are working to refine it as more information and statistics become available. Below is a comprehensive FAQ regarding the new system. If you still have questions regarding the platform or your ranking, don't hesitate to shoot us an email!
FAQ
What is the new ranking system platform?
Canada Skateboard has partnered with Wyldata, a leader in data collection in action sports to improve and evolve the Canada Skateboard Ranking List. The new list is part of the Wyldata’s Global Skate Ranking and is subject to an international standard. This list is a beta version and we are working to eliminate any bugs. Please submit any issues with the list or questions not captured in this FAQ to info@canadaskateboard.ca
How are the rankings calculated?
The ranking lists the top Canadian athletes per discipline (Park, Street and Vert) and gender by their best three results during the past year (365 days from the ranking calculation date). The ranking points for a competition and rank is determined by the quality of field and the field size. Full ranking details can be found here: Ranking rule book.
As more skaters are added into the list and more events are submitted the ranking and event values will improve.
What events are included when calculating values for the ranking list?
We aim to include any open category event that follows standard international competition rules that Canadian skaters are competing in (age category events not included). For an event to be included the full comprehensive result list with results from all round (qualifying, finals etc) is required. To ensure there are no duplicate entries full names and birthdates are required. Not all event producers can or want to provide this information, so we're working closely with contest hosts to improve the system and ensure fairness and accuracy. It’s a work in progress!
How can an event organizer submit an event?
Contact info@canadaskateboard.ca to check if your event meets the requirements and access our results submission form.
What are the implications of the ranking list for athletes?
We use the ranking list to help select athletes for invite-only events (i.e. National Championships), World Skate events and for eligibility to qualify for the Canadian National Team Program. Due to the fewer opportunities for skateboarders in park events, for internal ranking purposes Canada Skateboard will use a ranking of a skater's top 2 results for any selections in 2024.
