Bell Partners with Canada Skateboard to Inspire the Next Generation of Canadian Skateboarders

Toronto, August 25th, 2022 – Canada Skateboard is pleased to announce a new multi-year partnership with Bell, which will focus on supporting Canada’s National Skateboard Team, community investments and a groundbreaking program, SheCanSk8, to increase gender-diverse skateboarding participation in communities across Canada.

"We are thrilled about the partnership with Bell. We hit the ground running with a great community project! We look to continue to empower individuals and communities in skateboarding across Canada and provide opportunities to promote, support and grow skateboarding in this beautiful country."

- Hagan McCreath, Executive Director, Canada Skateboard.

“We’re really excited about our new partnership with Canada Skateboard. It provides us with opportunities to connect with communities across the country, and to help grow skateboarding in Canada. With our Bell for Better initiative, we’re committed to building Better Communities through investments in organizations like Canada Skateboard and through the support of programs like SheCanSk8, that open doors for diverse participants.”

- David Kennedy, VP Brand & Sponsorship, Bell

Bell and Canada Skateboard dropped right into the new partnership with the Hastings Bowl upgrade at Hastings Skatepark in Vancouver, BC. The refurbishment meant that Canada Skateboard could kick off the 2022 Slurpee Canada Skateboard Open Contest Series (June 3-4) with a safe space for all skateboarding enthusiasts.

Bell will support the expansion of the Slurpee Canada Skateboard open contest series by including a National Championship in 2023 and 2024. Canada Skateboard’s National Team will enjoy the opportunity to compete against the best in the country on the road to qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

In addition, Bell and Canada Skateboard will provide gender and community diversity opportunities in skateboarding through Canada Skateboard's SheCanSk8 skateboard programs. This women and gender-diverse-centric initiative will allow more participants to engage with like-minded individuals and discover the incredible groups of people skateboarding in Canada.

Bell and Canada Skateboard will celebrate the partnership this weekend, August 27-28th, in Toronto, ON. The event will mark the end of the 2022 Slurpee Canada Skateboard open contest series after six stops across the country. Several national team members, including Olympians, will attend the festivities and participate in the competition. Canada Skateboard and Bell expect large numbers of participants of all ages and gender to join for the last 2022 event.
