Canadian Girls on the Exposure 2024 Podium!

Canadian girls saw great success at the 13th annual Exposure Skate contest in Encinitas, California on November 2nd and 3rd! Canada Skateboard wants to extend a huge congratulations to Evie Pritchard, 12 year old skateboarder from Nanaimo, British Columbia, who found a spot on the podium taking home 3rd place in the Street Open Pro division of the contest and Olivia Jiang, 11 year old skateboarder from Oakville, Ontario who earned her spot beside Evie in 4th place in the same division.

Evie and Olivia have seen success at Canada Skateboard’s major events this year, with Evie seeing first place in the Women’s Street Digital Open and Street Open in Calgary. Evie also took home 2nd place at the Bell National Street Skateboarding Championships. Olivia took home 1st place at the Street Open in Toronto and 3rd place at the National Championships, both girls leading the way for young female athletes in the sport in Canada. These achievements paved their path to the international contest, Exposure Skate.

Exposure Skate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, girls and non-binary individuals through skateboarding. Their annual contest has become a cornerstone event for upcoming women in skateboarding, drawing competitors from across the globe to compete in Vert, Street and Bowl divisions. It is a highly anticipated event that garners support from the likes of Tony Hawk, Andrew Reynolds, Steve Caballero and a long list of other legends, pros and change makers in the industry. The organization has no doubt led the way for women in competitive skateboarding and offers a pathway to high performance competitive opportunities within the sport, with 60% of women’s skateboarding Olympians finding their start at Exposure. We are thrilled to see Canadian women represented at such a prestigious event, and the girls were stoked too! Olivia said “Exposure is the best event out there dedicated for girls” and that she “absolutely loved it there” - having an inspiring experience skating with women from across the world, all encouraging each other and hyping each other up. Evie said she “couldn’t have asked for much more” out of an event and that it was “an unreal experience”. She would love to keep doing what events like Exposure give her the opportunity to do, to “keep skating, traveling, and meeting new people”. Having contests like this is pivotal for women’s progression in skateboarding, and we are excited to see what’s next for Evie and Olivia.
