Canada's California - that's what they call the city of Vancouver. It's arguably Canada's greatest skateboarding city. But the catch - it's the rainiest place in the country and access to indoor facilities is minimal at best. Various groups and organizations, including Canada Skateboard, continue to work on creating accessible, dry and safe indoor or covered skate facilities throughout the province (and country at large) but resources are minimal and venues are scarce. The Vancouver Skateboarding Coalition, however, has come up with a solution that is keeping skaters on-board through the winter months: The Green Ramp. The Green Ramp is a temporary pop up mini ramp covered in Ocean Artworks at Granville Island that becomes accessible to the public in late November until the end of January. It is staffed entirely by VSBC volunteers and is totally free to use. You can find the schedule here.
